“Cooperation is the key to implementing this long-range plan,” said Tom Zobrist, Fiscal Officer for Washington Township and Co-Chair of the Create the Vision Implementation Task Force. “By working together and forming partnerships, Washington Township and Centerville have been able to implement 120 joint strategies, as called for in Create the Vision,” he said, “such as the joint project to review and update the zoning and land use codes and ordinances.”
Centerville and Washington Township have both contracted with American Communities Partnership (ACP) Visioning & Planning to assist them in a thorough review and overhaul of their development standards. The City of Centerville is working on a Unified Development Ordinance that includes both city zoning and subdivision regulations. Because Townships in Ohio do not administer subdivision regulations, Washington Township is working on their commercial development standards. Both entities aim to have new standards in place by early 2007.
The Create the Vision Annual Report is available on the website: www.createthevision.org. The next meeting of the Implementation Task Force will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11th at the Washington Township Government Center, located at 8200 McEwen Road in Dayton. The public is welcome to attend.
